  • Notes
    • - NOTE: This is NOT the Joseph Robillard who died July 22, 1918 at Ogdensburg, whose information follows. As well, the wife, emma Perkins, and children listed here are not those of Joseph Robillard, son of Emilien. I have left them there since there likely is a relationship, which has yet to be researched. Likely, Joseph never lived in Ogdensburg.

      ...........................................

      - 1910 U.S. census, Ogdensburg, NY, Devillier St. Joseph Robillard is 34 years old and is working as the captain of a pleasure boat. He is living with his wife Irma (33) and their three sons; Henry A., 12, Edward, 11, and Joseph E., 8. They have been married for 12 years.

      - Obituary of Mrs. Henry Baker, Feb., 1947. When his sister Addie died, Joseph was living in Montreal.

      - Obiruary of Henry Robillard, January, 1955. Joseph is not mentioned as a survivor of Henry Robillard in his obituary.

      - Joseph's wife Emma died in October, 1928. The obit mentions that Joseph had died several years earlier.

      - Joseph Robillard had captained the St. Lawrence State Hospital's launch "Dorothy" which gave rides to patients, since at least 1905, when a newspaper article mentions a patient jumping overboard and drowning, and references Captain Robillard.

      - Ogdensburg Republican Journal - July 22, 1918: Joseph H. "Buck" Robillard, a former well known baseball player of this city died Saturday afternoon at his home, 10 DeVillers street, after a lingering illness with an incurable disease. His condition became serious recently and all hope of his recovery was abandoned. He is survived by his wife and three sons, Henry and Joseph of this city and Edward who is serving in the motorcycle division of the army at Washington. The later sustained an accidental injury recently that has confined him to a hospital in Washington. Mr. Robillard's mother, Mrs. Mitchell LeMay, of this city, also survives. He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters. The funeral takes place at Notre Dame church tomorrow morning at 9 o'clock and interment will be in Notre Dame cemetery.
For the past fifteen years the deceased had been employed as carpenter at the State hospital and in the summer time also had charge of the steam yacht Dorothy, which is used for outing purposes for the patients. In his younger days Mr. Robinson was one of the best all around ball players in the city. He was familiarly known as "Buck", and was one of the most popular and best liked men engaged in the game. Robillard's favorite position was behind the plate. He was a strong batsman and a fine thrower, few base runners caring to take any liberties with his arm. Despite the strenuous exercise the game gave him Robillard continued to grow heavier and was eventually forced to give up the diamond because of his weight. He was 42 years of age.
