- 1870 census has Theophile Bartra, 60, b. 1810, Canada, blacksmith, residing in the Town of Oswegatchie, St. Lawrence County, NY, with wife Margaret, 56, (b. 1814) and son Theophilus, 15, (b. 1855.) He and his wife Margaret were born in Canada but Theophilus was born in NY.

Search finds he is son of Antoine Berthiaume and Marie Bisaillon. Married Marie Grenier and had child Francois Berthaiume (this must be Frs) who married Rose de Lima Legrand July 12, 1868, at St Jacques le Mineur, Laprarie, and they had child Marie-Louise Berthiaume, 1872-1956.
Theophile, b. 1811, is still at Quebec in 1871, age 60; and 1881, age 70. In 1881, Marie is still with him at age 69, as is their son, Theophile, 42, his wife Sohronie, 35, and their kids.
So, if Lenorah is the daughter, she must be Delphone. And where did I get the name of her brother Theophilus, b. 1856? Check census records.
Nope, this is not our guy, since in 1880, John Rehor, 45, is married at Oswego with wife Leonrah, 32, and her parents are living with them: Theophilus Bartrum, 69 and wife Margaret, 67, and son Theophilus, 24. both John and Lenorah were born Canada as were his parents.
Theophilus Bartrum is 69, born Canada; Margaret is 67, b. Canada; Leonara is 32, born Canada; and Theophilus Jr. is 24, b. Canada.
So: Theophilus was born in 1811 in Canada, as was wife Margaret, in 1813. Since likely oldest son Theophilus was born 1856 in Canada and Lenorah, 1848, Canada, they must have married about 1847 in Canada. Look for that.
