  • Notes
    • Sept. 29, 1933: John A. Lanthier, 68, well-known west side grocer, died yesterday morning at 5 o'clock at his home, 1001 New York avenue. He had been in failing health four months. Mr. Lanthier was born in Prescott and came to Ogdensburg 50 years ago. He was employed in the S. P. Gallagher and Joseph Larock groceries until he established his own business on New York avenue twenty years ago. He is survived by his wife, formerly Mary Walling: a son, Harold Lanthier of Ogdensburg, and a sister, Mrs. Stephen Fournier of Sudbury, Ont.
The funeral will be held Saturday morning at his home and at 9 at St. Mary's Cathedral. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Mr. Lanthier possessed a wide circle of warm friends who are deeply grieved by his death and will extend deep sympathy to his family. He possessed a genial, optimistic nature, was a firm friend and his business transactions and contacts with the public were straightforward, honorable and sincere.

      - At his marriage to Mary Walling, Mary Paquette was bridesmaid and William Kinch was best man.
