    • - Joseph Henry LaFlair was almost certainly the son of James Henry Brudgage and Mary Polly. He took the name LaFlair after his mother remarried about 1870 following the death of his father, and identified his parents as Louis Napoleon LaFlair and Mary Polly on the occasion of his second marriage to Lillie Mycroft in 1913 at Niagara Falls.

      - In 1887, Joseph and his family were living with his parents at 51 N.Y. Avenue.

      - In 1894 Joseph was living at 126 Lake St.

      - 1900 U.S. census: Ogdensburg, Joseph (aka Frank) LaFlair is 33. He was born in August 1867 and works as a cooper. He has been married for 12 years and his wife has had 2 children. He is living with his wife Jennie, 28, and children John H., 10, and Carrie O., 6. The family lives on Ford Avenue. All members of the family can read and write.

      - On Sept. 6, 1909, Joseph started a divorce action against his wife Jennie. It was scheduled to be heard Sept, 1910 and it appears it was granted. Sept. 6, 1909: Court held here - Saturday by Justice Van Kirk of Greenwich, Jennie Laflair, of Ogdensburg, defendant in a divorce action brought by her husband, Joseph Laflair, applied for counsel fees and was allowed $35. March 26, 1910: The Appellate Division has handed down a decision affirming the decision of Justice Van Kirk allowing $35 alimony and counsel fees to the defendant in the case of Henry Laflair vs. Mary Jennie Laflair, a local divorce action.

      - 1910 U.S. census: Ogdensburg, NY: Joseph is 42 and living with his mother, Mary, 64, her husband John F. O'Hagan, 65, and his daughter Carrie O. LaFlair, 16. Also in the household is his sister, Emma LaFlair, 24. He is working as a cooper in a barrel factory. He has been married for 21 years.

      - June 22, 1919, Niagara Falls: Couple married by catholic priest at Niagara Falls, witnessed by John W. Kennedy and Sarah Hall. (Note: Same form has both the license issued in 1913, and the marriage listed six years later in 1919.)
