Notes - - The 1865 N.Y. state census, Ogdensburg, 4th ward, shows Maria at three years old, living with parents Nelson and Marinda Turrill Como. She disappears by the 1870 U.S. census and no further trace of her is found. There is a rumor in the family picked up from Ruth Como that she was kidnapped and murdered, however, the Ogdensburg Daily Journal, from 1865-1870, has no information on any such crime. This mystery may never be solved unless there is a burial record at the Ogdensburg cemetery where she likely was interred, since her parents and siblings all are buried there; or possibly a record at a church of a burial service - most of the family attended the Methodist Church in Ogdensburg.
