- - Dennis served in the U.S. Marine Corps after leaving high school. In 1971 he began working in the shipping department of the Rome Cable, Co. in Rome, NY. This is the same firm that his father worked for for many years. In 1985 he was still there. In 1995 he was retired on a disability pension due to back problems.
- Dennis L. Como, 65, of Rome, passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Rome Memorial Hospital. He was born in Rome on July 6, 1950, the son of John and Cecelia Seymour Como.
Dennis served his country in the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. After returning home from being honorably discharged from the service, he worked at Rome Cable Corp., Rome DSO, Elite Taxi and Meals on Wheels. Dennis was member of the Rome VFW Post #2246. He enjoyed fishing and playing golf on the computer with his best friend, Wayne.
He is survived by a daughter, Brandi Lynn Como of Greensboro, NC; two sons, Jason (Wendy) Como of Mississippi and Jamie (Saing) Como of Georgia; a sister, Michelle (Ronald) Patterson of Bridgeville, PA; four grandchildren and one on the way; a special life-long friend, Wayne (Monica) Storms of Verona; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Gary, John and Richard. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Arrangements have been entrusted to Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome.
