    • After 1917 when his business failed and he supposedly had purchased a farm in Waddington, William Church disappears. Three years later in 1920, Agnes is residing not in Waddington but Ogdensburg as head of houshold, though she states she is married. The only trace of a William E. Church, b. about 1874, Canada, emigrated to U.S. abt. 1892, that can be found after 1917 is in the 1920 census of a William E. Church, 47, (b. 1873) resides in Chicago with wife Anna M., 45. He was b. Canada and emigrated 1898. But he was also there in 1910, when our William was in Ogdensburg.
      There is no death record of William to be found, nor a gravestone. He simply vanishes, and there is no mention of his fate in Agnes' obituary.

      - In 1905 William was a traveling salesman living at 28 Congress St.

      - In 1925 they were living at 816 Congress St. William came to the U.S. around 1887, at the age of 12.

      - 1900 census: William E. Church, b. Oct. 1873, is residing with wife Agnes F., b. June, 1871, and son Leonard E., b. Feb. 14, 1899, next door to Henry Como and wife Bessnie, and Henry Como and wife Caroline A.. in the Town of Oswegatchie. William E. Church emigrated from Canada in 1892.

      - 1910: William, 36 and Agnes F., 38, reside in Ogdensburg, Ward 1, with Eldon L. Church, 10, and Francis Church, 8.

      - Ogdensburg Journal, 1911: The interior of the old established jewelry store at 64 Ford street is in the process of extensive improvement. William E. Church, who has succeeded to the business formerly run by the firm of Hulett & Church and before them by Seely & Son, will completely refurnish, and redecorate the Interior of this reliable place of business. He will also stock it with a complete new line of jewelry, clocks, watches, silverware, art chinas and porcelaines, rich cut glass, etc. He is in New York at the present time selecting stock for the fall and winter business.

      - 1915 NYS census: William and Agnes, both 40, reside Ogdensburg First Ward with Donard E., 16; and Frances H., 13.

      - Nov. 23, 1917: William E. Church who is closing his jewelry store in Ford Street has purchased the Glidden farm in the town of Waddington, 15 miles from Ogdensburg and will take possession December 1st. The property contains over 200 acres of land.

      - March 13, 1917: The bankrupt stock of William E. Church was sold at auction yesterday morning by W. G. Moore. The appraised value of the stock and fixtures was $4,390.57 and they sold for 86 cents on a dollar. The purchasers were John A. Seely and Allen Welt, who also bid in the book accounts for $250. The sale was held by S. W. Leonard as trustee. James F. Akin appeared as his counsel. The bankrupt was represented by W. D. Ingram.
