Notes - - Marin Boucher was a stone mason and possibly this is why he was recruited in 1634 by Rogert Giffard to help settle Quebec. He and his oldest son Francois sailed on the St-Jehan and the rest of the Boucher family would arrive the following year. It's believed the colonists stayed at Fort St-Louis before relocating. The fort was built by Samuel de Champlain in 1608.
- He was born in 1589 in Saint-Langis-de-Mortagne, au Perche (France), on February 7th 1611, in the same Parish, he married Julienne BARIL. From this union, were born seven children: Nicole, Jean, Louise, François, Etiennette, Charlotte and Marie. Julienne Baril died before Marin BOUCHER set out for Canada. Of the seven children, only François survived and came to Nouvelle-France. In 1629, Marin BOUCHER married Perrine Mallet. She bore 2 children. In early June 1634, Marin BOUCHER, Perrine MALLET and their 3 children (Louis-Marin (4 years old), Jean-Galleran, (1 year old) and François (16 years old) landed in Québec City. Upon his arrival, Marin BOUCHER established himself on the shores of the Saint-Charles River. He is the ancestor of the majority of Boucher families
- House of Marin Boucher at Mortagne-au-Perche, France, about 50 miles north, northeast of Le Mans. La Barre consists today of one long house, called a longere, which is a series of three adjacent houses built throughout the centuries as the needs of the inhabitants changed. The first house on the westside is the original house, likely built prior to 1525, the middle house dates back to about 1800 and the east house dates back to the early 1900. The other three buildings are a modern barn on the westside and two old stables on the south side. The middle and eastern houses are still inhabited, while the old ancestral house is used as a storage shed. The mayor of Saint-Langis bought the house recently, knowing fully well that it is the ancestral house of the Boucher family.
