    • I am grateful to Francis T. Watters of St. Bruno, Quebec, who uncovered the identify of Joseph's wife Rosa, as well as their marriage date, his death date, and her parents.

      - Jan. 7, 1874: Joseph Wicks (and others) brought before the justice of the peace on a charge of drunkenness and disorderly conduct and all were sent to the county jail for 60 days.

      - Feb. 10, 1874: Joseph Wicks and Joseph Remo were taken up for disorderly conduct and fighting, and fined $10 each, or 30 days in the county jail. They were given until after the town meeting to raise the money.

      - Aug. 25, 1874: Alfred Spooner taken for assault and battery on Joseph Wicks. Complaint was withdrawn on payment of costs.

      - Oct. 10, 1874: Joseph Wicks, arrested for assault and battery, was convicted and fined $10 or 30 days in jail.

      - 1880 Census: Joseph Wicks, 23, resides in Ogdensburg with wife Rosa, 29 (she was born 1851 in Canada as were both parents) and works as a laborer. He says he was born in NYS as were both his parents. Residing with them is James Jemerson, 51, b. NY and both parents in Vermont. They reside on Canal St., off Lake St.

      -1882-83 city directory: Joseph Wicks, laborer, resides over 30 Lake St. (not far from the Canal Street location above.)

      - Notre Dame Church, Ogdensburg, has the record of the marriage of Rosalie Corneau and Joseph Rheaume (unknown why he was using this last name) 30 Jan 1877, and his funeral 24 Dec 1882.
