Notes - - Gail Elizabeth Benton, a long-time resident of Wilmington, passed away Tuesday, May 28th, 2019 at her home. Born on January 25th, 1947 in Rome, NY, she was the second child of John and Betty Rivenbark. She earned her accounting degree from Cape Fear Commmunity College and utilized her degree for J.L. Jack Hydraulics Company and the New Hanover County Business Tax Office. Gail’s laugh filled up a room and there never was a better story teller. She was an encyclopedia of family lore and always had a pot of coffee waiting. Every gift she ever received was exactly what she needed and her favorite color was green. She loved the Bay at the South End, making her friends and family laugh, playing with her grandchildren and hosting at Christmas. In middle school at Tileston, underneath the gym, Gail would arrive early to shag dance with her classmates and she was truly gifted. It would be a talent that would be mentioned again and again when friends and family were asked to describe Gail’s youth.
