William Dennis Polly was born in Connecticut, and is married to Ruth, who is 52 years old, and residing with two others, Henry Polly and Ruth Belle, both 13 years old. Ruth Belle was born in Ireland, and Ruth was born in New York.
William Dennis Polley, the father of our subject, was born in Canaan, N. Y., in 1777, where he received his early education and training, settled and continued to reside until 1811, when he emigrated Russia, Herkimer Co., N. Y., where he continued to make his home until his death. He was twice married, first to Deborah Eggleston, Feb. 15, 1802. His family by his first wife was as follows: James W., William H., Louisa, Hackley, Williard and Sophia. His wife died Nov. 19, 1813. The following August he celebrated his second marriage.
The name of the lady was Elizabeth Smith, a native of Norway, in the same county. To them were born ten children--Isaac P., Eliza, Nancy, Harriet, Daniel, James, Hiram, Waitie, Henry (who died in infancy), and Henry P., all of whom, with the exception of the first Henry, came to maturity.

William D. Polley was born October 20, 1777; married, first, February 13, 1802, Deborah Eggleston, born 1782, died November 19, 1813; second, August 8, 1814, Elizabeth Smith, born August 28, 1792, died February 26, 1844. Third, November 7, 1844, Ruth Gurney. William D. Polley came from New Lebanon, New York, to Russia. He was a farmer. His family of six children by his first wife and eleven by his second wife, seventeen in all, is the largest family yet found in the early days of Russia. William D. Polley was a Free Baptist. He died April 1, 1852, in Russia. The children of William D. Polley were:

Daniel, born May 26, 1823, died December 26, 1853. He resided Boonville, New York.
James, born April 26, 1825, died January 13, 1890. His wife was Jane Moore, born August, 1832, died February 25, 1884. Their son is Harry M. Polley, Kansas City, Missouri.
Hiram, born March 31, 1827, died January 7, 1899.
Waitie, born October 20, 1829, died February 2, 1914. She was Mrs. Graham, Deerfield, New York.
Isaac Newton, born February 12, 1832, died March 5, 1843.
Henry, born November 28, 1834, died April 15, 1836.
Henry, 2nd, born September 10, 1837, died November 30, 1920.
